Rishi Dhawan performed 39 IPL video games and performed an element in Punjab Kings (PBKS) for his or her runners up end at IPL 2014.
Former India all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from white-ball cricket. The 34-year-old made the declaration via his social media account, bringing an end to a limited-overs career that spanned two decades, including a brief stint with the Indian national team under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. His announcement came right after Himachal Pradesh’s exit from the group stages of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
Rishi Dhawan says bye to IPL & white-ball cricket
“It’s with a heavy heart, even though I have no regrets, that I’d like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (limited over),” Dhawan wrote in his statement. “This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that would always stay very close to my heart.”
Having made his international debut in 2016, Dhawan represented India in three ODIs and one T20I. While his opportunities at the international level were limited, Dhawan’s performances in domestic cricket were noteworthy. A reliable seam-bowling allrounder, he played a pivotal role in leading Himachal Pradesh to their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title in 2021.
Legacy in Domestic and IPL Cricket
Dhawan’s career has been synonymous with resilience for those who follow domestic cricket. In first-class cricket, he amassed over 4,800 runs and claimed 353 wickets. His List A record is equally impressive, with 2,906 runs and 186 wickets. Dhawan has also been a familiar face in the IPL, turning out for franchises like Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Reflecting on his journey, Dhawan expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to his career. “From humble beginnings to representing my nation on the grandest stages, it has been a privilege beyond measure. Cricket has been my passion, and my reason for waking up every morning,” he said.
